It is truly an honor to be here today at this TVET event in Sungai Siput, Perak. As we gather in this community college, we are reminded of the vital role that Technical and Vocational Education and Training plays in shaping the future of our nation.

Would like to thank YB Kesawan MP Sg. Siput , Director and the team of the community college for organising this event.

Today, I want to talk about reaching out to students and emphasising the importance of TVET in our country. We live in a time where the demand for skilled workers is ever-growing, and yet, there seems to be a misconception that academic qualifications are the only pathway to success.

This couldn't be further from the truth.

In reality, our country is in dire need of TVET trainees who possess the practical skills and expertise required to fill the plethora of jobs available in various industries. These jobs range from automotive technicians to healthcare assistants, from IT specialists to construction workers. The opportunities are vast, and they are waiting for individuals who are willing to embrace TVET as their path to a fulfilling career.

To the teachers and students here today, I urge you to consider the power of TVET in bringing about change not only in our country but also in your own communities. By equipping yourselves with practical skills and knowledge, you have the ability to make a tangible difference in the workforce and contribute to the growth and development of our nation.

As educators, it is your responsibility to guide and inspire your students to explore the world of TVET. Encourage them to see beyond traditional academic pathways and to embrace the opportunities that TVET offers. Show them that by pursuing a career in TVET, they are not only securing their own future but also contributing to the prosperity of our nation.

To the students, I say this: do not underestimate the value of TVET. It is not a second-rate option; it is a gateway to a world of endless possibilities. Take pride in the skills you acquire through TVET, and let them be the foundation upon which you build your future success.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Before I conclude, I want to highlight some important developments that further underscore the significance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in our nation.

Firstly, I am pleased to announce that the government has taken a monumental step by agreeing to establish a single accreditation body for TVET programmes this year. This move aims to streamline all TVET courses offered by various institutions, aligning them with industry demands and bolstering the sector's effectiveness.

Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has shared that the government is actively studying the implementation of a premium salary for TVET graduates. This initiative, with rates starting at RM4,000 and above, seeks to recognize the invaluable contributions of TVET graduates to our workforce.

In addition, it is heartening to hear that Zahid has emphasized the importance of providing more opportunities for Indians to pursue TVET education. Diversity and inclusivity are fundamental principles, and ensuring equal access to TVET opportunities is essential for the holistic development of our society.

Lastly, let us not forget that TVET trainees have the potential to earn up to RM4,000 as a minimum wage. This not only highlights the financial stability that TVET offers but also showcases the lucrative opportunities available in various industries for skilled TVET graduates.

I am glad to hear from many who attended this event that they are now only aware of this community college and about TVET generally. I believe the presence of over 300 hundred students is a good exposure to all.

With these developments in mind, I urge all stakeholders – educators, students, policymakers, and industry leaders – to continue championing the cause of TVET. Together, let us seize the momentum and work towards a future where TVET is recognized, respected, and celebrated as a cornerstone of our nation's progress.
