I met with the Deputy High Commissioner of the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, H.E. David Wallace in Putrajaya today.

We discussed continued close cooperation between Malaysia and the United Kingdom on law reform, in particular in enacting a Charities Act in Malaysia and in legislating for a Mental Capacity Act. We also discussed at length the need for sentencing guidelines in Malaysia, as practiced in the United Kingdom and the separation of the Offices of the Attorney-General and the Public Prosecutor. 

I believe both countries can continue to work closely on law reform in these areas and I look forward to the same.
