I am honored to stand before you today at this The Central Database Hub (PADU) registration event, where we come together to embark on a journey towards enhanced governance and better policy planning for the benefit of all Malaysians. PADU, which was launched on January 2nd, represents a significant step forward in our nation's efforts to harness the power of data for the greater good.

PADU's implementation is not merely about retargeting subsidies and aid, but it goes beyond that. It is about comprehensively understanding the socioeconomic landscape of our people, ensuring that policies and programs are tailored to meet their diverse needs and aspirations. Through PADU, we aim to create a more equitable and inclusive society, where every Malaysian has the opportunity to thrive.

1) The main objective of PADU is to ensure that government benefits are better channelled to those who qualify. It streamlines and updates data from various government departments to ensure that aid, subsidies and other types of help are distributed in an accurate manner.

2)PADU is a platform that integrates and holds the personal data of Malaysians above the age of 18. In addition to individual information, it also holds information about households.

In the long run the government will only provide subsidies to those who are really in need, and data on M40 B40 households are critical.

Those with informal jobs should also register.

Lets not miss out this opportunity to benefit from government aid.

However, we understand that with any new initiative, there may be concerns and apprehensions. One such concern that has been voiced by many Malaysians is the fear of data leakage. Let me assure you that safeguarding your data and ensuring its confidentiality and security are our top priorities.

Our Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has assured us that the system was fully developed with civil servants’ expertise because getting external parties involved would pose a greater risk of data leakage. The priorities of PADU was to use internal expertise in the form of civil servants to develop a solid system, taking advantage of the fact that they are bound by the Official Secrets Act 1972 (Act 88).

PADU operates under strict data protection protocols and adheres to the highest standards of cybersecurity. Your personal information is encrypted and stored securely, accessible only to authorised personnel for legitimate purposes.

Moreover, it is important to emphasize that the data collected through PADU is used solely for the purpose of improving governance and policymaking. It is not shared with any third parties for commercial or other purposes. Your privacy and confidentiality are paramount, and we are committed to upholding them at all times.

I urge each and every one of you to take this opportunity to register and update your details in the PADU system before the deadline on March 31st. By doing so, you are not only contributing to the advancement of our nation but also ensuring that your voice is heard and your needs are addressed in the decisions that affect you and your community.

Together, let us embrace PADU as a tool for positive change, building a brighter future for Malaysia and all its people.
