Former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir's Divisive Remarks on Indian Malaysians part of his comeback plan

I vehemently denounce the recent divisive statements made by Former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir in a recent interview, where he advocated for the assimilation of Indians in Malaysia and urged them to "become Malay." Such comments not only run counter to the principles of unity that our nation was built upon but also represent a departure from the inclusive ideals our founding leaders championed.

As someone who formerly served in his cabinet, I am saddened yet not surprised by his blatant show of bigotry.

Dr Mahathir's fall from grace reached fever pitch when the former PM could only garnered 4,566 votes in Langkawi and lost his deposit along with all 121 candidates from the Gerakan Tanah Air, the last General Election. So he needs a plan to endear himself to his "voter bank". Hence why the bigotry has started.

Our nation's journey to independence was marked by the collective sacrifice of people from all walks of life, regardless of their ethnic background. The foundation of our nation is grounded in the values of unity, diversity, and inclusivity, and we reject any attempts to undermine these principles.

Contrary to Dr. Mahathir's assertions, the loyalty of Malaysian Indians to the country is unwavering. The sacrifices made by hundreds of Indians, alongside fellow Malaysians, during critical moments in our nation's history – including defending our sovereignty and combating the communist insurgency – serve as irrefutable evidence of their dedication and allegiance to Malaysia.

Attempting to stir racial issues is not only divisive but also counterproductive to the progress and prosperity of our nation. We call upon leaders to rise above divisive rhetoric and embrace statesmanship, focusing on fostering unity, understanding, and collaboration among all communities.

It is essential to recognize that the success of multicultural societies lies in celebrating diversity rather than enforcing assimilation. The achievements of the Indian diaspora globally, including the remarkable strides made by Malaysians of Indian descent, highlight the strength that comes from embracing our differences.

In conclusion, we reiterate our commitment to a united Malaysia, where every citizen, regardless of their ethnic background, is valued and respected. We urge leaders to refrain from making inflammatory statements and instead work towards building a society that reflects the harmonious coexistence envisioned by our nation's founders.

I think it is crucial to address not only the divisive nature of his comments but also the possible ulterior motives behind such statements.

Mahathir, known for his shrewd moves in Malaysia's political chess game, I believe his divisive rhetoric possibly sheds light on his last ditch desperate political agenda.

Using racism and bigotry to win political support is an unethical and divisive strategy that exploits people's prejudices for personal or political gain. It involves manipulating emotions, promoting stereotypes, and fostering an "us versus them" mentality. While it can be effective in the short term, it can have severe consequences for social cohesion, tolerance, and the overall well-being of a nation. Do not let Mahathir win because then Malaysia loses.

What Mahathir intends to do is simple, first he aims to divide the nation by using inflammatory language that targets specific racial or ethnic groups, playing on existing tensions or fears within the people. Then he makes one group, scapegoats. .He blames one ethnic group for societal problems, economic challenges, or other issues that can be used to create a common enemy and rally support against them. Then he stokes fear. By playing on people's fears and prejudices he can gain political support. He then promotes the stereotypes and uses selective messaging. Then he makes his last ditch effort to comeback.
