Tsinghua University, Beijing, China Visit

Today, the Malaysian Speaker delegation, which included Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Tan Sri Johari Abdul , Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat (II) YB Alice Lau Kiong Yieng (Lanang), Datuk Awang Solahuddin Hashim (Pendang), YB Chiew Choon Man (Miri) and myself (Ipoh Barat), visited Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

There, we met renowned for top-notch university academics and distinguished professors. Tan Sri Johari delivered a speech where he emphasised on bilateral relationships and sustainable development.

This visit follows the visit recently by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who not only visited the campus but the chairman of this university to Malaysia.

There is a total student population at Tsinghua University, in Beijing, is 52,000 where Malaysian students make up about 350. The courses here are also offered and conducted in English. There are students from India, Africa and the Middle East and they study here as well.

Tan Sri Johari mentioned that he hoped this University will open a Campus in Malaysia soon. He also took questions from the students at attendance. It was a great honor for our speaker to be able to present a lecture.

今天，马来西亚议长代表团成员包括国会下议院议长丹斯里佐哈里阿都、下议院副议长刘强燕YB Alice Lau Kiong Yieng (Lanang)、吉打州本同区国会议员拿督阿旺哈欣 (Datuk Awang Solahuddin Hashim) (Pendang)、美里区国会议员赵俊文YB Chiew Choon Man ( Miri）和怡保西区国会议员M.古拉（Ipoh Barat）访问了中国北京清华大学。

我们会见了清华大学著名的顶尖大学生和杰出的教授。丹斯里佐哈里阿都强调将继续加强马来西亚和中国的双边关系和视可持续发展为目标， 以造福两国。

北京清华大学的学生总数为 52,000 人，清华拥有来自全球120个国家的学生，例如印度、非洲和中东，其中大马学生占了365人，高居清华海外学生人数第一名。这里的课程也以英语授课。

丹斯里佐哈里阿都表示，希望大马与中国在未来能够展开更多的合作计划，包括争取北京清华大学在我国设立分校。此外，我国也会扩大中奖学金的资助规模，资助更多我国学生赴华学习或研修。
