We’re
witnessing an ever growing digital skills gap, which needs to be addressed at
the earliest so that it doesn’t snowball into a bigger problem. The demand for
digital skills is much higher than the available talent pool, even when the
unemployment rate is extremely high around the world. Thus, urgent action is
required in order to help young people improve skill set to support digital
economy.
Access
to learning as well as employment opportunities can be improved through the
following measures.
·
STEM
Style School Curriculum –
High school students need
to be provided with STEM programs focused on digital technology. Young students
need to be offered the right learning platform to acquire digital skills, which
would go a long way in bridging the digital gap.
·
Diploma
level education in digital technology –
You talent needs to be
tapped while they’re still in school and colleges. Thus, the importance of
diploma level education in computer basics and its practical implementation
must to be included in the academic curriculum. This will not only improve
their employability quotient but also support digital economy in a big way.
Supporting
digital economy by readying the future workforce is the only way to close the
digital gap and boost the economy.
