Press Statement by M Kula
Segaran, DAP National Vice Chairman and MP for Ipoh Barat in Ipoh on Friday,
May 9 2014
DAP will go all out to ensure victories in Bukit Gelugor and Teluk
Intan by elections
DAP has been most consistent in our stand that Malaysia must
remain a democratic secular nation. Our stand has never changed- that Islamic
state formation or hudud implementation is against the Constitution and it is
not also not suitable for a plural nation like Malaysia.
I have stated many times before and I wish to reiterate that
Islamic state formation or hudud implementation is not and will never be the
common policy of Pakatan Rakyat.
MCA and Gerakan may think they can fool the people on the
hudud controversy by waging aggressive , baseless attacks on DAP especially in
the Chinese media, but the people can judge for themselves which is the party
they can trust to uphold the secular constitution of the nation.
Unlike MCA and Gerakan which cannot be trusted, DAP is a
party of principles.
Before MCA and Gerakan continue to wage baseless attacks
against the DAP, they should explain to the people why did they fully support
Mahathir’s declaration on September 29 , 2001 that Malaysia is an Islamic
state?
September 29, 2001 was definitely a day of shame for MCA and
Gerakan.
There is no doubt that MCA and Gerakan will exploit the
hudud controversy in the upcoming Bukit Gelugor and Teluk Intan by elections.
DAP will go all out to debunk MCA and Gerakan lies against
DAP in the Bukit Gelugor and Teluk Intan by elections.
We must win in the by elections so as to continue the
momentum for PR‘s objective to capture Putrajaya in the next general election.
It will be wise that PAS must not continue to fall into BN‘s
trap and should end the hudud controversy immediately.
I call on PR supporters to help in our campaign to debunk
the lies and falsehoods spread by MCA and Gerakan.
