Speech
by M Kula Segaran, DAP National Vice Chairman and MP for Ipoh Barat at DAP Ipoh
Barat Deepavali Open House held at Buntung, Ipoh on Friday, November 09, 2012
Let
the next general election be a total triumph for Pakatan Rakyat.
In the 2008 general election, BN suffered its worst ever
electoral debacle due to the 308 political tsunami.
With the next general election fast approaching, the
question that Malaysian should ponder is whether the BN government has learned
its lessons? Has BN government changed? Has it become competent?
More importantly, is it the government that the voters
should trust and support?
I shall say that despite introduction of some changes, BN is
still the same old incompetent government.
BN government is not the hope for Malaysia and it cannot
bring about A Better Malaysia for All.
The BN government leaders talk a lot about transformation,
but the country is rampant with corruption.
Najib likes to talk about “You help me, I help you” but has
he listened to what is the talk on the ground? Why only RM 500 cash handout in
55 years?
BN government has recently launched the Education Blue Print
but where is the commitment that there will be fair and just treatment for
vernacular schools?
The government boasts that the nation’s unemployment rate is
low but many of our nurses and pilots who have graduated cannot find
employment.
Is the government competent, fair and just? The answer is a
Big NO!
And the BN government is still arrogant.
The Prime Minister said a few years ago that the era where
the government knows best is over but the AES issue simply shows how arrogant
is the government.
Despite the obvious weaknesses that the AES has, the
government continues to ignore calls from the Opposition as well as some BN MPs
for review of the system.
The Indians had played their Kingmaker role at the last
general election and helped bring about the 308 political tsunami which opened
up a new chapter in Malaysian politics.
Undoubtedly, BN has tried to make some efforts to woo Indian
support.
But has the BN
government done enough despite all the praises MIC sings for BN?
Till today, so many long issues faced by the Indian
community remain unresolved, whether they are stateless Indians, high
unemployment, high suicide rates, lack of Tamil schools in towns etc.
Come the next general election, the Indian community should
once again rise to the occasion and join hands with other Malaysians who have
been yearning for change to vote for total change.
Deepavali signifies the triumph of light over darkness.
Let the next election be a victory for light over darkness.
Let the next election bring about a bright future for Malaysians.
Let the next general election be a total triumph for Pakatan
Rakyat.
