Let the next general election be a new political beginning for Malaysians and Malaysia!
In our history, no new Prime Minister has ever waited this long like Dato Sri Najib in calling for a general election to seek a mandate of his own from the voters.
Najib became the nation’s new Prime Minister more than 3 years ago, yet till today he cannot make up his mind when to advise the King to dissolve the Parliament.
There can only be one obvious reason for this—that he is uncertain about BN’s electoral performance in the next general election.
And he certainly has a good reason to feel uncertain—that he has not lived up to Malaysians’ expectations.
I am sure he must have been informed that more and more people are now saying that the ‘ RAHMAN’ theory about him being the last Prime Minister will become true.
2 days ago, former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir made a “prediction” that BN was “likely” to continue its rule after the next polls with a weak government but said this would be an undesirable outcome as the pact would be preoccupied with its own survival instead of the country's development.
He pointed out that without a strong two-thirds majority in Parliament, a government could easily be toppled from its perch through mass defections.
"So the government is more interested in trying to survive and not ensuring that this country grows and prospers, “he said.
I shall not deliberate into Mahathir’s concept and views of a weak government but I shall say that he does not have to worry much about the existence of a weak BN government after the next general election.
This is because I believe that Malaysians are ready for change and they will vote in a new Putrajaya government helmed by Pakatan Rakyat.
And indeed Malaysians must be ready for change as the nation cannot afford to allow BN to cause further ruins to this nation.
But we must also be prepared to face all dirty tactics which BN will employ to try to hang on to power.
Lies and false issues have been and will continue to be spread to divert attention as well as to frighten the people.
MCA has first tried to frighten the voters by claiming that if its electoral performance in the coming general election is worse than that of 2008 general election, it is prepared not to participate in the Cabinet.
When such a strategy has failed to frighten the Chinese voters, MCA has been manipulating the Islamic state and hudud law issues.
Let me reiterate that implementation of Islamic state or Hudud law is not the agenda or policy of Pakatan Rakyat.
DAP has been around since 1966 and our records are there for all to see. Our records show that DAP leaders are people of strong principles and high integrity.
DAP is a tested party that can be trusted. Voters can put their hopes on DAP and Pakatan Rakyat.
It is therefore important that Malaysians must not allow the golden opportunity of electing new Putrajaya government at the next election be robbed by BN’s dirty tactics.
Malaysians should therefore make the debunking of BN’s lies into a people power campaign.
Debunk BN lies at coffee shops, at work places and in social media.
Let the next general election be a new political beginning for Malaysians and Malaysia!
