PR must ensure that only incorruptible and clean candidates will be selected to contest in the next general election.

Press Statement by M.Kula Segaran, DAP National Vice Chairman MP for Ipoh Barat on Monday, Feb 6, 2012 in Ipoh.

PR must ensure that only incorruptible and clean candidates will be selected to contest in the next general election.

Since becoming the prime minister about 3 years ago, Dato Sri Najib has talked a lot about reforms. He has also introduced and talked about the People First slogan.

On this day, the third anniversary of the biggest political robbery in the nation’s history, Malaysians should ask two questions, namely does Najib qualify to be called a reformist and whether he has walked his talk on the People First slogan?

The answer is plain obvious and clear—he certainly is no reformist and he does not walk the talk on the People First slogan.

Perhaps Najib thinks that the people have short memories, but Malaysians do remember his engineering of the fall of the people elected PR state government on Feb 6 in 2009.

Let me remind him that he will go down in history as the mastermind of the illegal and unconstitutional grab of political power from PR government.

How could a leader who robbed a state power and does not respect the people’s mandate qualifies a reformist?

In fact, for BN ‘s illegal robbing of the people’s mandate and its continued refusal to dissolve the Perak state assembly, Najib’s People First slogan should be changed to Power First. BN is greedy for power and Power First should be its true slogan.

When the next general election comes, Malaysians must r ensure that the BN government pays the political price for having committed the biggest political robbery in the nation’s history.

Let there therefore be a political tsunami bigger than that of 2008 general election to teach BN a bigger lesson.

Come next election; let’s boot out the BN government at both Federal and state levels. Through the power of votes, make Dato Sri Najib the new parliamentary opposition leader and Datuk Zambry Kadir the new state opposition leader

On this day, PR must also never forget the lesson of history. PR must ensure that only incorruptible and clean candidates will be selected to contest in the next general election.
