We were invited for the thanks giving dinner organised by the Kg. Bintang Branch. The function started at about 7.30pm at Sdr. Jega's residence. Good food and many people attended the function. My speech is as follows:Tonight’s thanks giving dinner is held with two main purposes, firstly to celebrate the branch ‘s success in organizing the recent dinner and secondly to celebrate he people’s success in forcing the Government to cancel the intended compulsory acquisition of the Indian Heritage land in Sitiawan.
August 25th, 2010 is certainly a day of pride for local Indian community and the DAP as even though the BN could “seize” Perak state power, they could not seize the Heritage land.
Today is the first time when Malaysia Day has been declared a public holiday. This public holiday should have been declared in 1963 when Sabah and Sarawak joined us to form Malaysia.
If it was not because of the 2008 general election results which dealt BN its worst electoral debacle, Malaysia Day would never be declared a public holiday by the BN government.
This shows the power of people’s votes and what changes the people’s votes can bring about.Presently there are over 4 million unregistered voters in the nation and about 900,000 are Perakians. These unregistered voters will be significant factor in the electoral outcome if they can vote in the next election.
Automatic registration of voters will be the ideal and practical solution to solve the problem of such high number of unregistered voters but the BN government is afraid of the young voters and therefore will not support such a long standing DAP’s proposal.
Hence, it is imperative that DAP branches must double or even treble our efforts to register new voters to ensure that our twin objectives of capturing Perak state and Federal power in the next general election can succeed.
Undoubtedly, next general election is going to be the most important election in the nation’s electoral history. It is also going to be the dirtiest one as BN will certainly employ dirty tactics to try to keep in power.To regain Perak state power and to capture Federal power will not be easy tasks and require better and thorough preparation from the Pakatan Rakyat, whether in terms of publicity work, policy formulation, people mobilization etc.
One important area that Pakatan Rakyat must give importance to is putting up the most winnable candidates in every seat.Hence, we will have to do a thorough study on the present performance of our elected representatives.
We need to weed out the inefficient and the opportunists. We need to identify new people.
In terms of strategy, the Perak DAP’s practice of fielding one candidate in two seats, that is, the state and parliamentary seats has to be reviewed.
Even holding and serving a single seat is already a mammoth task. What more if a person holds two elected posts?
More importantly, Perak DAP does not lack capable, dedicated and honest members who are winnable candidate materials.
By ceasing the practice of fielding one candidate in tow seats, we can also allow these deserving candidates the chance to serve the Party and the people in the forefront.
I therefore call for the review of the Perak DAP’s practice of fielding one candidate in two seats.

இரண்டு தொகுதிகளில் ஒரே நபர் போட்டி முறையை தவிர்த்தல் வேண்டும்
வருக்கூடிய தேர்தலில் புதிய பலமான முகங்களுக்கு வாய்ப்பளிக்கும் வேளையில் இரண்டு தொகுதிகளில் ஒரே நபர் போட்டி போடும் முறையை ஜ.செ.க மாற்றியமைத்து ஒருவருக்கு ஒரு தொகுதி மட்டுமே வழங்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்று ஈப்போ பாராட் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் மு.குலசேகரன் கேட்டுக்கொண்டார். இதுபோல புதிய அணுகுமுறையை ஜ.செ.க பயன்படுத்தினால் அது திறமையுள்ள நபர்களுக்கு வாய்ப்பளிக்கும் செயலாக கருதப்படும் என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
ஒரு சட்டமன்ற தொகுதியை தங்கவைத்துகொண்டு மக்களுக்கு சேவை செய்வது ஒரு சுலபமான செயலல்ல. அது மிகப்பெரிய கடமையாகும். அவ்வகையில் இரண்டு தொகுதிகளில் எவ்வாறு முறையாக சேவைசெய்ய முடியும் என்பதனை நன்கு ஆராய்ந்து செயல்பட வேண்டும். மக்களுக்கு சேவை என்பது அரசியலில் ஒரு முக்கிய பங்கு, அதனை முறையாக வழங்க வேண்டும்.
மேலும் தற்சமய சூழ்நிலையில், பேராக் மாநில ஜ.செ.க-வில் நிறைய திறமையுள்ள நபர்கள் உள்ளனர். இவர்கள் நேர்மையான கண்ணியமான வேட்பாளராக இருக்க வாய்ப்புண்டு. இவர்களின் திறமைகளை பார்த்து தக்க சமயத்தில் வாய்ப்பு வழங்குவது கட்சியின் முக்கிய கடமையாகும் என்று நான் கருதுகிறேன் என்றார் அவர்.
கடந்த காலங்களில் இரண்டு தொகுதிகளில் ஒருவரே போட்டி போடும் முறை ஒரு பொதுவானதாக இருந்தது என்பது உண்மை. காரணம் தேர்தலில் போட்டி போட யாரும் முனைப்பு காட்டுவதில்லை. இப்பொழுது அவ்வாறு கிடையாது. நிறைய நபர்கள் அவர்களின் அரசியல் திறமைகளை வெளிபடுத்த தொடங்கிவிட்டனர்.
நடந்து முடிந்த 2008-ம் ஆண்டு பொதுத்தேர்தலில் பேராக் மாநில ஜ.செ.கவின் தலைவர் டத்தோ ங்கே கூ ஹாம் சித்தியவான் சட்டமன்றத்திலும் பெருவாஸ் நாடாளுமன்ற தொகுதியிலும் போட்டிப் போட்டி வெற்றிப் பெற்றார். மேலும் அவரை தொடர்ந்து அதே போன்ற சூழ்நிலையில் பேராக் மாநில ஜ.செ.க-வின் செயலாளர் ங்கா கோர் மெங் பந்தை ரெமிஸ் சட்டமன்றத்திலும் தைப்பிங் நாடாளுமன்ற தொகுதியிலும் வெற்றிக்கண்டார்.
அடுத்து வரக்கூடிய பொதுத்தேர்தல் நாட்டின் மிக முக்கியமான தேர்தலாகும். அவை தேசிய முன்னணியின் பாரம்பரிய வெற்றிக்கு சவால் விடக்கூடிய தேர்தலாக இருக்கும் வாய்ப்புள்ளது.
அதே சமயத்தில் பேராக் மாநில மக்கள் கூட்டணி மீண்டும் மாநில ஆட்சியை கைப்பற்ற என்னமிருக்கும் வகையில் தேர்தல் இயந்திரத்தை முழுமையாக பலமாக்கி கொள்ளவது மட்டுமல்லாமல், விளம்பரம், கொள்கை சூத்திரங்கள் மற்றும் எந்த நேரத்திலும் மக்களை திரட்ட கூடிய ஆற்றல் நம்மிடம் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்றார் அவர். அடுத்து மத்திய அரசாங்க ஆட்சியை அமைக்க நாம் எண்ணம் கொண்டிருந்தாள் இவை அனைத்தும் முக்கியாமாக கவனிக்கப்படவேண்டும்.
இவை அனைத்தையும் விட மிக முக்கியமான ஒன்று, ஒரு சிறந்த வேட்பாளருக்கு வாய்ப்பளிப்பதை பற்றி மக்கள் கூட்டணி சீர்தூக்கி பார்க்கவேண்டும்.
ஒரு சிறந்த மாற்றத்தை கொண்டு வர, தற்சமயம் மக்களால் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட சட்டமன்ற நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களின் சேவை தரத்தை நன்கு கவனித்து அதில் அரசியால் சுயலாப கொள்கைவாதிகளையும் அரசியல் ஆற்றல் இல்லாத நபர்களை மாற்றி அமைத்து திறமையுள்ள நபர்களுக்கு வாய்பளிக்க இதுவே சிறந்த முறையா விளங்கும் என்பதில் எந்த ஒரு மாற்று கருத்தும் கிடையாது என்று, ஜ.சே.க கம்போங் பிந்தாங் கிளை ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்த விருந்து உபசரிப்பில் இதனை கூறினார் மு.குலசேகரன்.

《要求民主行动慎重检讨实行“一位候选人竞选两席位”的机制》
今晚的感恩宴会有两大意义，主要庆祝支部最近成功举办宴会，其次是共庆人民成功迫使政府取消强硬征用实兆远的印度人世袭遗产地段的意图。2010年8 月25日肯定是本地印度人和民主行动党感到高傲的日子，因为国阵政府可以“夺取”霹州政权，却无法抢夺人民的世袭遗产。
今天，是马来西亚日首次被宣布为公假的日子。这假期本应在1963年，当沙巴和砂拉越与大马半岛结为一体时骄傲地被宣布。
假使不是2008年的大选成绩被形容为国阵的政治大灾难，马来西亚日绝对不会被国阵政府宣布为公假。
这显示了人民的政治投票权，人民投票权如何可以带来改变？
目前，我国还有超过400万名还没有登记的选民，其中霹雳州人就占了90万人。这些还没有登记的选民，如果能够在来届大选中履行投票义务，他们就是选票表达的强大力量。
当然，自动成为选民制度是最理想不过，以及最实际的解决登记庞大数目的未登记选民方案，国阵政府却害怕年轻的选民，因此拒绝支持民主行动党这项长期不断争取的建议。
因此，民主行动党各支部必须双倍，甚至三倍努力广泛登记选民，确保民主行动在来届大选中落实夺取霹州和中央政权的双目标，这是绝对迫切的。
无庸置疑，来届大选将是我国有史以来全国大选历史上最为关键的。它将是最肮脏的政治选举，因为国阵肯定会不择手段出尽肮脏花招试图继续执掌。
有鉴于此，要重夺霹州以及夺取中央政权肯定不会是一桩易事，无论是宣传工作、政策的制定甚至人力的动员等，都需要霹州人民更周全以及全面的部署。
民联要强调的其中一大领域，在于必须在每个议席都选派可以旗开得胜的最佳候选人代表上阵。
因此，我们必须展开全面的研究工作，评估目前获得人民委托的人民代议士的个人表现。我们必须剔除那些毫无政绩表现以及投机分子。
我们也须确定新血新脸孔；然而，在策略方面，霹州民主行动党正要贯彻“一位候选人竞选两席位”的机制，因此，现有的州议席和国会议席机制必须进行检讨。
其实，要在一个议席中有所表现，而且还要提供良好服务已经是一门苦差。当一个人要兼顾两个获得人民委托的选区时，情况将又如何？主要的，霹州民主行动并不缺贤能、肯献身以及忠心耿耿的党员，他们都具有胜面颇高的素质。
如果能够取消实行“一位候选人竞选两席位”的机制，我们也可以让这些有素质之士为党以及人民作出贡献的机会。
本人因此郑重呼吁，霹州民主行动党慎重检讨实行一位候选人竞选两席位的制度。
