DPM has to do more to prove his sincere and serious commitment to 1 Malaysia concept

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said yesterday that all ministers shared the Prime Minister's aspirations under the 1Malaysia banner.

He also said he was on the same wavelength with Najib on the 1Malaysia concept.

Muhyiddin said he never doubted the 1Malaysia concept as it was based on the objective to develop the country on the basis of racial integration.

He was responding to DAP parliamentary leader Sdr Lim Kit Slang's question in a press statement whether he was the right hand man of Najib or Mahathir in the Najib's premiership.

This is an expected answer.

But he has to do more to prove that he is sincere and serious in his commitment to the 1 Malaysia concept because he had made several utterances which were not consistent with the values and spirit of the 1 Malaysia concept or his lack of commitment to the concept.

One example will be his explanation that Nasir Safar 's racially offensive remarks could have been “a slip of the tongue” .Who would believe that Nasir's remarks could have been a slip of tongue when he had uttered just one offensive sentence , but many sentences as he had at the Malacca 1`Malaysia Seminar labeled Indians and Chinese Malaysians as “pendatang”; remarked that “Indians came to Malaysia as beggars and Chinese especially the women came to sell their bodies , and threatened to revoke the citizenship of those vocal about the SPM subject cap issue.Nasir's remarks were so shocking and unacceptable that he had resign his position as special officer to the Prime Minister.Any Cabinet minister who sincerely and seriously supports the 1 Malaysia concept would not have attempted to mitigate public outrage by saying that Nasir 's remarks could have been a slip of the tongue.

Yet Muhyiddin had said that Nasir's remarks could have been a slip of the tongue!
