PR states must lead by example and must deliver as promised 23.11.2009

When speaking at PR’s national symposium on the making of a two-party system organised by the Institute for Policy Research (IKD) on November 21, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim challenged Pakatan Rakyat (PR) states today to be role models of good governance and reforms in order for Malaysia to move towards a two-party system.

“The states must show an example via its policies, which must emphasise good governance, diversity, compassion for the weak and safeguarding of natural resources and the environment ", he said.

I agree with Anwar that PR states must lead by example. In fact, the performance of PR states will definitely become a major issue in the next general election.

PR states will be fully evaluated by the voters and what is therefore most important is that PR states must be able to go into the next general election and proclaim proudly and loudly that " We have delivered ".

The voters have given the opposition their strong support . They have given strong mandate to the PR states. They will also remember PR promises.

PR states must therefore lead by example and prove to the supporters that they can bring about changes, govern better than BN governments and deliver as promised.
